468.2 Assessing transplant candidates' risk: nonadherence

Miriam Kaufman, Canada

Professor Emerita
University of Toronto

Overview

The most common cause of rejection after transplant is non-adherence.  Can we predict who is likely to be adherent?  Can we identify modifiable risk factors and intervene?  What are some easy pre-transplant interventions that might increase adherence post-transplant?  The research is slim, so after reviewing it, Miriam Kaufman (a self-described nurse-paediatrician) will discuss what she learned in her years of practice with young people and their families.
