Overview

In this session, a rationale for the use of organ donors infected or colonized with multi-drug resistant organisms (MDROs) will be presented.

Objectives

Upon completion of this session, the participant should be able to

  1. Describe organ donation and transplantation statistics and the epidemiology of MDROs among potential organ donors
  2. Describe the importance of inter-facility communication when using organs from donors infected with MDROs
  3. Describe an approach to the management of recipients receiving organs from donors harboring MDROs
