Introduction: The objective of this study is to know the details of non-controlled asystolia donation interviews.
Material and method: Retrospective collection of information about the donation interview from 2007 to June 2017. The data are collected by the transplant coordinators of the hospitals 12 de Octubre and Clínico San Carlos.
Results: A total of 942 DNC interviews were collected. The accepted interviews were 851 (90.3%) and denied 91 (9.7%). The average number of occasions in which professionals approach the family is 1.78 (SD 1.34). In most cases, the professional who reports the death is a transplant coordinator (TC) (44.6). In most cases, the professional requesting the donation is a medical CT (54.8%) followed by a nursing CT (31.8%). In 9% of the cases, a relative was present who was a health professional. The interviews were conducted with a median of 3 relatives (RIQ: 2-4). The relationship of the main interlocutor was a spouse in 48.9% and the average age was 47 years (SD 20). The sociocultural level appreciated by the interviewer was described as "medium" in 60.4% of the cases and the perceived attitude "good" in 78.6% of the cases. Most of the accepted interviews were once the information was received (50.7%) with a 6.7% spontaneous offer. The main reason for refusal to donate was "not reasoned" (30.8%). The main reason for acceptance is "solidarity / help to others". There is no significant difference between those accepted and those denied in age (48 vs 47 p = 0.8) or gender (p = 0.87) of the donor, in the number of partners in the interview (3.5 vs 3.5) ; p = 0.8). , person reporting the death (p = 0.37), or donation (p = 0.34), presence of a family member (p = 0.87), relationship of the main interlocutor (p = 0.9), sociocultural level (p = 0.8), and yes in the number of interviews, higher in those rejected (2.8 vs 1.9 p <0.005)
Conclusions: Almost 9 out of 10 donation interviews are authorized. The reasons for acceptance are usually solidarity and help for others. In most cases it is accepted once the information is received and there are more than 6% of the cases with spontaneous offer. In most cases of denial, the interviewer is not able to get to know the reason or the family is not able to reason.
