Introduction: Mucormycosis is an emerging fungal infection caused by opportunistic fungi belonging to the order Mucorales (class Zygomiceto). It is a rare and opportunistic disease that most often occurs in individuals with compromised immunity, such as in solid organ transplants.  It is considered a medical emergency due to high mortality rates, on average 40%, and may reach higher percentages depending on the clinical form.
Objective: Report a rare case of cutaneous mucormycosis, with severe necrosis, in a kidney transplant.
Method and Result: Kidney transplant patient, in the first year, with necrotizing cutaneous lesions (Fig. 1,2), diagnosed with Mucormycosis, performed in tissue biopsy.
Conclusion: Despite the severity and the high mortality rate, in this case, the diagnosis in time and the treatment instituted, were significant in the result, preserving the graft and consequent renal function.
