Introduction: Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is a global health problem with increasing incidence, poor prognosis and high costs. The global prevalence of CKD is estimated to be 13.4%. According to Global Burden of Disease results of 2010, CKD is the cause of death ranked 27th in the world in 1990 and increased to 18th place in 2010. In Indonesia, treatment of kidney disease ranked second in term of financial cost, listed under heart disease. The aim of his study is to determine the profiles of kidney transplant at our institute with reference to sex, age group, donor-resipien relationship, etiologies, comorbid, donor CT angiography and human leukocyte antigen (HLA).
Materials and Methods: This is a three-year retrospective study from 2014 to 2017 carried out at a tertiary care hospital. The kidney transplantation profiles information was obtained from the patient’s original case records.
Results: Twenty transplant cases were recorded in the study. There were 13 men and 7 women recipients in each donor and recipient group. The youngest recipient was 15 year-old while the oldest was 50 year-old with mean of 35,2 year-old. The youngest donor was 28 year-old while the oldest was 64 year-old with mean of 46,5 year-old. According to the relationship between donors and recipients, we found that there were 15 out of 20 were blood related. On average right kidney transplantation was performed by the anatomosis of 1.5 arteries and 1.2 veins, contralaterally on 1.2 arteries and 1.2 veins. Full human leukocyte antigen (HLA) match was present in 13 cases, 3 cases of three HLA match, 1 case of 2 HLA match, and 3 cases of one HLA match. Several etiologies of CKD in this study includes uncontrolled hypertension (15), stroke (2), DM (2), heart disease (1), & TBC (1). We also found comorbid diseases such as hepatitis C (2), erosive gastritis (2), esophagus varises (1), pleural effusion (1) and ascites (1). There were 3 cases of mortality.
Conclusions: This study highlights the profile of kidney transplantation in Dr. Kariadi hospital. This data is expected to be the basis for further study.
