Dr Clarisse M. Machado is an ID physician working in the field of transplantation since 1992. Currently, she is the Head of the Virology Laboratory of the Institute of Tropical Medicine at University of São Paulo, Brazil.

The main areas of research of Dr. Machado are the development of laboratory tests for diagnosis of viral infections in transplant recipients, viral and tropical infections in hematopoietic stem cell transplant (HSCT) recipients and vaccination of transplant recipients.

She is the President-Elected of the Transplant Infectious Diseases (TID), a section of the Transplantation Society (TTS), and the coordinator of the TID program at the Amaral Carvalho Foundation, which holds the largest HSCT center for unrelated donor transplants in Brazil. Dr. Machado is also council member of the Immunocompromised Host Society (ICHS) since 2008 and a member of the Committee on Influenza of the Brazilian Society of Infectious Diseases.
